‘no walls’ wall

Building a wall,
Is it a way to express?
Or a way to oppress?
Is it to protect?
Or is it to confine?
Are we spending more time with ourselves?
Or distancing ourselves from others?
Perhaps, nature?
Is the wall an element of architecture?
Or does it belong in the art world?
But isn’t architecture a form of making?
and so is making something, an art?

This work is about looking at the basic element of architecture - wall, with a new perspective. ‘no wall’ walls idea is to divide a space without having to build a thick standing wall. With no walls built, and space gets filled with ample sunlight, it feels light and airy and helps to form a direct visual connection to adjacent spaces with proving the basic function of a wall i.e to separate.

This work is an extension of a study of different types of walls derived from the book - ‘elements of architecture’ by Rem Koolhas
