i like simple

i like to make things

i make things in order to hold what I know of the world

a treasure trove, a repository of experiences, learnings and knowings
in the form of shapes, colors, materials, systems and people

this beautifully complex world around me, I fail simplicity, yet I try and try

a simple desire

My name is Megha.
Megha means a rain cloud
I am uncertain about how the stars came together to give me that name considering I'm a fire sign. I guess it all makes sense because now I work with clay, primarily.

I studied architecture. Ever since I could remember I loved to make things with my hands. Although it wasn't until the very last year of school when I actually made architecture with my hands. It was the first time I interacted with clay as a building material. It wasn't easy or convenient. I resorted to scale down to keep my desire intact.

To understand clay better, I joined a short term pottery class. For the next 2 years, I worked on my skills over the weekends and late nights from my home studio. I managed to make enough work to get into grad school. After 4 years including a master's degree in ceramics, I now feel comfortable showing myself to the world as a maker.

I still very much want to pursue architecture but using my hands. For now I'm starting small with the future hopes of making a larger built environment.
